The Macular Disease Society is a registered charity supporting people suffering from macular degeneration (loss of central vision in the eye) and funding research into potential cures. In the UK some 350,000 people, mostly of the older generation, have MD which often leads to loss of their independence and depression.There is currently no cure for dry MD, the prevalent form of the disease.

The Charity has the largest membership (currently 15,500) of any Charity for the visually impaired and has an ambitious program of new developments, including funding research into cell implantation as a potential cure. Money raised through Fund it Frog will support this program.
